Propagation Characteristics
Less congested than 2.4 GHz ISM. Worse building penetration than 2.4 GHz. Free-space path loss ~7.7 dB higher than 2.4 GHz at same distance.
Regulatory Notes
Overlaps with Wi-Fi 5 GHz UNII bands. FCC: 200 mW–1W depending on sub-band. DFS (Dynamic Frequency Selection) required in most channels.
