Everything this site produces is a modelled approximation, computed from published formulae under stated assumptions.
It is not a measurement, it is not an engineering sign-off, and it is not evidence of regulatory compliance. Check it before you build anything on it.

2. Results are modelled, not measured
Each calculator implements a published model — a textbook formula, a standard method, or a recognised approximation. A model is a simplification chosen to be useful across a range of cases, and every one of them holds only within the assumptions it was derived under.
A result can be arithmetically correct and still be wrong for your situation, because the model does not describe it. Common reasons:
- the geometry or material is outside the range the model was derived for;
- an effect the model omits dominates in your case — dispersion, surface roughness, temperature, tolerance, coupling, parasitics, non-linearity;
- an input is being interpreted in different units or a different reference plane than you intend;
- the real component differs from its datasheet, or the datasheet differs from the batch.
Where a calculator states its assumptions and references, read them. They are the conditions under which the number means anything.
3. Simulation results carry their own limits
The simulation tools discretise a problem and solve it numerically. Their accuracy depends on mesh resolution, boundary treatment, the length of the run, and the convergence criterion — not only on the physics.
A coarse or fast solve mode trades accuracy for time, deliberately. A result may be flagged as degraded, truncated or physically invalid; where it is, that flag is the most important thing on the page and should not be worked around.
An unflagged result is not thereby verified. It means no automatic check failed, which is a weaker statement.
Agreement between a simulation and a hand calculation is not validation either — both may share the same wrong assumption.
4. Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is engineering, legal, safety or regulatory advice, and using it creates no professional relationship of any kind.
The Service does not know your application, your environment, your standards, your safety case or your risk tolerance, and it does not exercise judgement. Those remain the responsibility of a qualified engineer accountable for the design.
If a decision matters — because it is expensive to reverse, or because someone could be hurt — it needs a qualified person, not a web page.
5. Verify before you build
Before committing a result to hardware, a purchase, a submission or a published claim:
- check it against an independent method — a second tool, a hand calculation, or a different formulation;
- confirm every input, its units and its reference plane;
- confirm the model applies to your geometry, materials and frequency range;
- measure the built article. Measurement is the only thing that tells you what you actually made.
Treat any result here as a starting point and a sanity check, never as a final answer.
6. Regulatory and band data is informational
The site reproduces frequency allocations, power limits, emissions limits, connector and material specifications, and similar reference data, drawn from public sources.
That data is informational only. It may be incomplete, superseded, or wrong for your country, your licence class, your service or your date. Allocations and limits differ between jurisdictions and change over time.
Nothing here establishes that a transmission, an emission or a product is lawful. Certification and compliance are determined by an accredited test house and by the regulator with jurisdiction over you — not by this site. Always check the current text published by the relevant authority.
7. Third-party and live data
Some features display data fetched from external sources — space-weather indices, satellite orbital elements and pass predictions, spectrum-allocation records.
That data is passed on as we received it. It may be delayed, cached, incomplete or unavailable, and we do not verify it. Orbital predictions in particular decay in accuracy with time since the last element set was published.
Do not use it for anything safety-critical or time-critical without an authoritative source.
8. Accuracy and availability are not warranted
We work to keep the calculators correct, test them against textbook references, and fix errors we learn about. We do not warrant that any result is accurate, complete or fit for any purpose, and we do not warrant that the Service is available or error-free.
If you believe a result is wrong, please tell us through the report control on the calculator or at contact@rftools.io. Reports are read, and they are how a number of errors have been found.
9. No liability for what you build
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, anything this site produces. That includes the cost of redesign, re-manufacture, rework, scrapped stock, recall, retesting, recertification, project delay, and lost profit or revenue.
The limitation of liability in section 12 of the Terms of Use applies in full to this disclaimer.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
