LVDT Sensitivity & Range

POSThttps://rftools.io/api/py/v1/calculate

Slug lvdt-sensitivity. Calculate LVDT output voltage, sensitivity in mV/mm, and linear range from excitation voltage and stroke. Design displacement sensor signal chains.

Inputs

Send every one of these in inputs, in the units shown. Most are required: a call without one is refused (400) and costs nothing; one the calculator can do without takes the default shown. An input outside its range is still computed and flagged in the provenance.

Inputs of lvdt-sensitivity
NameUnitRangeDefaultDescription
excitationVoltagenumberVat least 0.15Excitation Voltage (RMS)
sensitivitynumbermV/V/%FSat least 0.0014mV output per V excitation per % of full stroke (from datasheet)
coreDisplacementnumbermmat least 05Core Displacement
fullScaleRangenumbermmat least 0.00125Full-Scale Range (±)
frontGainnumberV/V0.01 … 1000001.5The gain of the demodulator and amplifier between the LVDT and the ADC (V DC out per V RMS in). A gain of 1.5 brings the 2 V RMS full-scale output to 3 V.
adcRefnumberV0.1 … 503.3The ADC full scale
adcBitsnumberbit1 … 2412ADC resolution in bits

Outputs

Returned in values, by key. A value that is unbounded or undefined is null.

Calling it

  • Calculate: one call, the request and response in full, and its errors.
  • Batch: this calculator with others, or a sweep, in one request.
  • Solve for a target: the value of one input that brings an output to a target.
