Passive Speaker Crossover Calculator
POSThttps://rftools.io/ api/ py/ v1/ calculate
Slug speaker-crossover. Calculate passive 2-way speaker crossover component values for 1st order (6dB/oct) and 2nd order Butterworth (12dB/oct) networks.
Inputs
Send every one of these in inputs, in the units shown. Most are required: a call without one is refused (400) and costs nothing; one the calculator can do without takes the default shown. An input outside its range is still computed and flagged in the provenance.
| Name | Unit | Range | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| crossoverFreqnumber | Hz | 100 … 20000 | 3000 | Crossover frequency between woofer and tweeter |
| wooferImpedancenumber | Ω | 1 … 32 | 8 | Woofer nominal impedance |
| tweeterImpedancenumber | Ω | 1 … 32 | 8 | Tweeter nominal impedance |
| ordernumber | none | 1 … 2 | 2 | Filter Order |
| eSeriesnumber | none | 0 … 96 | 0 | Rounds every part to the nearest value in the series; the response and the export are the rounded design's. |
Outputs
Returned in values, by key. A value that is unbounded or undefined is null.
| Field | Unit | Description |
|---|---|---|
| wooferLheadline | mH | Inductor in series with woofer (low-pass filter) |
| wooferC | μF | Capacitor in parallel with woofer (2nd order only; equals tweeter cap value for 1st order) |
| tweeterC | μF | Capacitor in series with tweeter (high-pass filter) |
| tweeterL | mH | Inductor in parallel with tweeter (2nd order only) |
| slopeDb | dB/oct | Crossover rolloff slope |
| wooferCutoffBuilt | Hz | Where the woofer section these part values build, into the woofer's nominal impedance, is 3 dB down; the crossover frequency with ideal values |
| tweeterCutoffBuilt | Hz | Where the tweeter section these part values build, into the tweeter's nominal impedance, is 3 dB down; the crossover frequency with ideal values |
Calling it
- Calculate: one call, the request and response in full, and its errors.
- Batch: this calculator with others, or a sweep, in one request.
- Solve for a target: the value of one input that brings an output to a target.
