BGA Breakout Width Calculator
POSThttps://rftools.io/ api/ py/ v1/ calculate
Slug bga-breakout-width. Find the widest escape trace that fits between BGA lands from ball pitch, land diameter, your fabricator’s clearance and the number of traces per channel — and whether it fits at all.
Inputs
Send every one of these in inputs, in the units shown. Most are required: a call without one is refused (400) and costs nothing; one the calculator can do without takes the default shown. An input outside its range is still computed and flagged in the provenance.
| Name | Unit | Range | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ballPitchnumber | mm | at least 0.1 | 0.8 | Ball Pitch |
| landDiameternumber | mm | 0.05 … 2 | 0.4 | Solder-mask-defined or non-solder-mask-defined land, whichever the footprint uses |
| minClearancenumber | mm | 0.01 … 1 | 0.1 | Minimum Clearance |
| tracesPerChannelnumber | none | 1 … 4 | 1 | How many conductors run between one pair of adjacent lands |
| diagonalRoutenumber | none | 0 … 1 | 0 | Escape Direction |
Outputs
Returned in values, by key. A value that is unbounded or undefined is null.
| Field | Unit | Description |
|---|---|---|
| maxTraceWidthheadline | mm | Maximum Escape Trace Width |
| channelWidth | mm | Channel Between Lands |
| clearanceDemand | mm | Clearance Consumed |
| effectivePitch | mm | Effective Pitch |
| escapeRows | none | With N traces per channel, N + 1 rows of the array break out on one layer: the outer row needs no channel (Intel AN 114) |
| fits | none | Geometry Fits |
Calling it
- Calculate: one call, the request and response in full, and its errors.
- Batch: this calculator with others, or a sweep, in one request.
- Solve for a target: the value of one input that brings an output to a target.
