SMD Resistor Code Chart

Complete reference for SMD resistor marking codes. Includes 3-digit, 4-digit, and EIA-96 code systems with resistance values and tolerances.

3-Digit SMD Codes (E24, 5%)

First two digits are significant figures, third digit is the number of zeros. Example: 472 = 47 × 10² = 4700Ω = 4.7kΩ. R notation for decimal point (4R7 = 4.7Ω).

3-Digit Code Example: 472

First two digits (47) are the significant figures. Third digit (2) is the number of zeros to add.

472 = 47 + 00 = 4700 ohms = 4.7 kilohms

4-Digit Code Example: 4702

First three digits (470) are the significant figures. Fourth digit (2) is the number of zeros.

4702 = 470 + 00 = 47000 ohms = 47 kilohms

EIA-96 Code Example: 01C

Two-digit number (01) maps to the first E96 value (100). Letter (C) is the multiplier (x100).

01C = 100 x 100 = 10000 ohms = 10 kilohms

R Notation: 4R7

The R indicates the decimal point position.
