Asymmetric Stripline Impedance Calculator

POSThttps://rftools.io/api/py/v1/calculate

Slug asymmetric-stripline. Calculate the characteristic impedance of an offset (asymmetric) stripline where the trace sits closer to one reference plane than the other. Compares against the centred case.

Inputs

Send every one of these in inputs, in the units shown. Most are required: a call without one is refused (400) and costs nothing; one the calculator can do without takes the default shown. An input outside its range is still computed and flagged in the provenance.

Inputs of asymmetric-stripline
NameUnitRangeDefaultDescription
traceWidthnumbermm0.02 … 100.15Trace Width
heightToNearPlanenumbermm0.01 … 50.2Dielectric thickness between the trace and the closer reference plane
heightToFarPlanenumbermmat least 0.010.6Dielectric thickness between the trace and the farther reference plane
copperThicknessnumberμmat least 535Copper Thickness
dielectricConstnumbernoneat least 14.2Dielectric Constant
frequencynumberGHz0.001 … 3002.4Used only for the guided wavelength; the impedance does not depend on it in this model

Outputs

Returned in values, by key. A value that is unbounded or undefined is null.

Calling it

  • Calculate: one call, the request and response in full, and its errors.
  • Batch: this calculator with others, or a sweep, in one request.
  • Solve for a target: the value of one input that brings an output to a target.
