Encoder Resolution Calculator
POSThttps://rftools.io/ api/ py/ v1/ calculate
Slug encoder-resolution. Calculate encoder counts per revolution, angular resolution, and maximum frequency for quadrature and single-channel encoders.
Inputs
Send every one of these in inputs, in the units shown. Most are required: a call without one is refused (400) and costs nothing; one the calculator can do without takes the default shown. An input outside its range is still computed and flagged in the provenance.
| Name | Unit | Range | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| pprnumber | pulses | at least 1 | 1000 | Pulses Per Revolution (PPR) |
| quadraturenumber | none | 0 … 1 | 1 | Quadrature (×4) |
| gearRationumber | :1 | at least 0.01 | 1 | Gear Ratio |
| motorMaxRpmnumber | RPM | at least 1 | 3000 | Max Motor Speed |
Outputs
Returned in values, by key. A value that is unbounded or undefined is null.
| Field | Unit | Description |
|---|---|---|
| countsMechanicalRev | counts | Counts/Motor Rev |
| countsPerOutputRevheadline | counts | Counts/Output Rev |
| degreePerCount | °/count | Angular Resolution |
| maxFrequency | Hz | Max Pulse Frequency |
Calling it
- Calculate: one call, the request and response in full, and its errors.
- Batch: this calculator with others, or a sweep, in one request.
- Solve for a target: the value of one input that brings an output to a target.
